Autocad or Turbocad.... please help?
Hi there, i am really in need of a cad but confused which one i should get.I have no previous experience and needed it for draft drawing for doors and windows.
I was hoping to get autocad but way to expensive!! is turbo- cad good enough alternative for 2D windows and doors drafting? ( glass/ aluminium works) and how long does it take for a beginner to know the basics using a guide book, thanks.
You can get Autocad for free, signing and downloading as a "student". There are, also, "other ways" to get it for free... 
How long?
VERY LONG...
AutoCAD is the most complex (and the most powerful) program in CAD. I have worked with it since the 80's... I am on ACAD 2011... and still learning things everyday.
The most important thing is to have a good ENGINEERING training/education (which you should, if you build (Alu/PVC) windows and doors).
Your way will be to design your profiles as viewed from the top, then extrude them to get them as a 3D object. Once you have understood that principles, the basic other operations will be (relatively) easy...
I managed to teach the basics to a "student" building log cabins in less than a week, so, it is not impossible.
(But I promise you will swear a few times! - I still do!)
