Will i see combat in the national guard? Will they also pay for my remaining years of college?

I am 18, and a freshman in college. After this year of school i want to join the guard but only if i will see combat and can get my remaining 3 years of college paid for. What are the chances that my college will be paid for seeing as i go to a state college already if i join the infantry for the guard. I want to fight in Afghanistan and do my duty but want to come back and get a degree in criminal justice.

You will probably deploy at some point. When is an open question. The National Guard will pay up to $4500 a year in Tuition Assistance. The Reserve GI Bill is apparently worth about $300 a month. Drill pay is just short of $200 when you are new. So add up the math and see if that will cover you. Keep in mind you'll get full time pay during Basic/OSUT and AIT. Infantry school is about 12 weeks long, plus a week or two for processing.
