How to import video from a JVC Everio camera into iMovie '09?
When I hook up the camera and select Playback on PC mode, rather than opening an import window in iMovie, an import window opens in iPhoto. When I launch iMovie, no import window appears (even though all the video tutorials ay that one should) and if I try to import from camera, it brings up a window for the built in camera rather than the Everio. Definitely not intuitive! How can I import my video? Thanks!
Make sure that the camera is ON and in PLAYBACK mode BEFORE connecting it to the MAC. Hopefully you are using a firewire cable, but USB may be an option. Then launch iMovie, and it should detect your camera and launch the importing window in iMovie. If you are still having trouble, restart the MAC and try this process again. If it still doesn't work, try changing the playback setting on the camera - ie, DON'T use "PC" mode and see how that works. Good luck.
