How to play online Halo combat evolved on mac with friend that has pc?

I was wondering if you could play online Halo from a mac and a friend that has a pc, could you give step by step on how to do that

The two companies are competitors, so it's unlikely that you'll be able to do it directly.

However, use a program to run Windows on a Mac (like Parallels or VMware Fusion) and there *should* be no problem.

You can use a free trial of the programs to see if it'll work, but you'll also need the Windows version of Halo: CE (maybe copy your friend's? I got one on a flash drive from kids at school for free so it's possible..)
To do it for longer than the month or so trial will probably cost a lot more than it's worth, sorry.
