13 dpo and lost all hope...?
I'm now at 13 dpo and have lost all faith... I was getting cramps as of 3 dpo like odd sensations, backaches, battling a cold, headaches, thirsty, etc... I haven't started af yet but I can now feel her coming on as I did last month on a tuesday. Now I'm just waiting for the wipe that will once again prove to me I'm not pregnant and my symptoms were once again in my head. We have a dr appt next week to see what is going on with us since my husband and I are 26-28 and have been ttc for a year and a half. Sorry to be a bummer I'm just a little down this morning... I'm thinking of giving up because it's feeling like this will never happen...****Lots of bb dust to all of you **** You're all great and all deserve a bundle of joy!!
You've been trying for a year and a half, but have you just been trying on your own? It sounds like this is your first doctor's appointment to see if there are problems.
They will probably test your husbands sperm first, since it is very easy to test and rule out problems with the man.
It took me almost 2 years to conceive my first, in the end we used clomid because I wasn't ovulating properly. With my second, we didn't wait as long to go on the clomid, but it still took us over a year to conceive. I'm now expecting our third, and, surprise! it was a surprise. I would never have imagined I could be surprised.
This book has a lot of great information, "Fertility, Cycles & Nutrition" by Marilyn Shannon. It should be available on amazon.com for not too much. It really helped me. There are things she suggests for the husband to do that can improve his fertility. Even if his fertility is normal, if he can improve it even a little, it can help compensate for problems with the wife's fertility. And vice versa. Read this book cover to cover and try some of the things she suggests. And see your doctor, too. I definitely understand the stress and disappointment of, month after month, when your period starts late.
Another thing you can do, that would help you to understand what's going on with your own body, is to track your basal body temperature and cervical mucous. I did this, and realized that I had a luteal phase that was too short. No doctor diagnosed this, I figured it out on my own. It basically meant that my periods were starting too soon, so even if there was a fertilized egg, it didn't have time to implant before my period started. There are suggestions in the book for this, and she covers basal body temperature a little bit. There is also a lot of information available online about how to track these, and what your results mean. I also found that my tempuratures were too low, indicating that there was too much light in my bedroom at night. She talks about this in the book. It might sound crazy, but if there is too much light in the bedroom at night, the brain never registers it is night and doesn't release certain hormones.
Anyway, just know that it can happen, and don't despair. I would definitely recommend getting the book and reading it through. Implement any and all recommendations you think might help you.
Another thing that made a huge difference to me, was a wild yam cream. (Not artificial progesterone.) It basically absorbs through the skin and then your body uses the natural components to make its own progesterone. It is worth doing some research about. I've used a couple different brands, so I won't recommend any brands. A lot of people kind of poo-poo all the natural stuff, but it's what women have been using for thousands of years, before doctors came along with their magic pills, that sometimes cause more problems than they solve.
